Fresh Eggs Anyone?

Share it Please

There is something about vintage and vintage inspired signs that makes me swoon! I'm all about colours and texture and this wooden gem has all of the above. It's fresh, fun and it just plain old makes me happy... and I'm all about things that make me happy :)

To achieve this look, I did quite of bit of paint layering as well as mixed my own tints to get the colour variation that I was looking for. I started out with some Annie Sloan Antibes, Old White, Barcelona, Arles, Graphite and a touch of Emperors Silk tossed in for good measure. In fact, this sign only came about because I had an abundance of tester pots of chalk paint that I was dying to play with, and a customer request for a sign that said "Fresh Eggs".

After a couple of hours and my workspace looking like a tornado hit it,  I ended up with some lovely Antibes green highlights in my hair and a beauty of a sign that I had a really hard time parting with. It's a good thing that I have Mr. PPS to keep a close eye on me or we would be hanging funky signs on every square inch of our house :)

  1. Did you do all that beautiful lettering? It looks amazing. Is the outer gray barnwood part of the sign?

    1. Hi Deb,

I created the design in Illustrator and then loaded it into my Silhouette software and used vinyl to transfer it onto the wood. The outer gray is and additional layer of paint that I added to frame in the sign :) Thanks so much for commenting!
